We're in the middle of THE SNOWSTORM OF THE CENTURY. I know to most people it doesn't seem like a very big deal or even that much snow (we have 8 inches), but western Washington drivers don’t know how to function in this weather.
So we just shut down. Most places of business (including Jacob’s) and all schools have been closed. Even banks and malls! We aren’t getting mail, newspaper or garbage/recycling pick up. Streets are blocked off. Cars are abandoned. Flights are cancelled. Sea-Tac airport is down to one runway. Hotels are overbooked. It's a mess and our governor declared a state of emergency this morning. We've got an ice storm going on right now and downed trees and power outages are in our future. But we've been having fun, hanging out and playing in the snow!

I read reports that peoples roofs are giving in from the weight of the snow. I guess in high snow regions the roofs are typically build to withstand the heavy snow on the roofs?

Aww it looks so pretty but I know it's probably a pain too :/ We shut down everything here for just ICE so I can totally understand y'all shutting down for that amount of snow! Love the pictures and I'm sure the boys had a blast! :)
OMG that footage is crazy! Snow days are suppose to be spent inside with hot chocolate and movies. If the roads are bad I don't understand why people think its ok to hop in their cars and drive! Looks like you had a great snow day!

I'm glad you guys are safe and sound, especially after watching that video. I can't believe people even attempted to drive in all that ice, especially after seeing all the collisions.
Looks like you are having a blast with all the snow! Sounds kinda scary though...
And those people just should have stopped driving... just stop.
